Communion on the Sea of Galilee

A very memorable celebration of the Sacrament of Holy Communion for us took place on the Sea of Galilee during the St. Philip trip to Israel in February/March of 2009.
Our group was on a wooden boat that was built to be similar to the boat that Jesus, along with Peter and the disciples were on almost 2,000 years ago. Pastor Cheryl set up a communion table with wine and (bread) near the front of the boat. We were singing hymns and walking up for communion while the boat slowly circled the Sea of Galilee. Many scripture passages about the Sea of Galilee came to mind, particularly the story of Jesus walking on the water to meet the disciples. The lesson of keeping our eyes focused on Jesus was very powerful, and something that we will remember forever!
